In the Judge Dredd comic during the apocalypse war story the Sovs had a flying V shaped thing.
About 20 years ago I had a crack at building it but I just did not have the skills.
Think I might have to give a go again.

some from yesterdays tinkering...
Fictional 'Sack AS.7' (Me.163), AS. 8' (Me.262) from Ted Nomura's 'Luftwaffe 46' comic, Antarctic Press, 2001
iv seen mention to a 'disc winged' Me.109 too turning up online in recent years but never seen any artists impressions of it
(im guesing a bigger version of the Argus engined Sack AS.5 would probably do?)
cheers, Joe

The Argus engined machine was the AS.6, the AS.5 was the flying model that preceded it. As far as I know, the AS.7 would have been the saucer winged Bf-109, & would probably have been known as the Me-600. The AS.7 would probably been based on a 109K, with a DB605 & four blade prop, the K models Galland hood & six cannon in the wing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Sack_A...tt_600_proposal
I found the same pics as Gary, apparently the guy tried to work out how the AS.7 may have looked using the X-Plane flight sim software, apparently it has a good physicis model & is good for creating project & fictional aircraft. He came up with an aircraft with a short rear fuselage & T-tail after experimentig a bit woth the flight model. He also included the AS.8 design Gary posted with push-pull props. I think that this was his own idea rather than a real project, he used the pusher prop to counteract torque problems he found in his AS.7 flight model.

X-Plane
is indeed a great way to mock up and test fly real or imagined airplanes. I made a model of the
Focke-Wulf 1000x1000x1000b
and even with the listed engine thrust, it was easy to fly and very responsive. I even played with no winglets, upturned winglets and different engines. The winglets helped with yaw stability.
Based on the poor performance of the Sack AS6, I always thought of it as A Sack of... Shitakke.

one my dad found from his younger days whilst sorting through some old papers ... (the best part is that he's also found a box full of old 'Jetex' solid fuel rockets too, pellets, igniters, fuses, etc. ... hehehe!)

... after a modelling hiatus, i thought id make a start on some posponed projects ..
... just finished priming the Me.163 and 262 saucers, i think ill just go with standard late war schemes to finish
... started working on 109 derived saucer to complete the family based on the posted artwork here
... the 'Fantastic Plastic' saucer has been assembled, filled and primed and awaits final painting, again ill prob be pretty boring and give it an overall silver scheme
... having vacformed a few spare mouldings of saucer shapes, iv been tinkering with the idea of adding aircraft cockpits, empennage, etc to the disc form to se what develops..ill post up some images of my musings (a Harrier saucer actually looks not too bad too..lol)
cheers, Joe

The As-8 with the tractor/pusher set up has me wondering what a Do-335 would look like with the disc wing.

Joe,
Did you ever consider a cargo saucer? Perhaps a kit bash with a C-130 or C-119 to create a saucer freighter?
