Especially for Tophe... The Waco XCG-21 Twin Hadrian, which was initiated as a prototype in 1946 to recycle the remaining CG-4 gliders into more efficient transports. The project was killed when it was found that the resulting airplane was too heavy for the regular tow aircraft in service at the time, and only one prototype was built.

Don't laugh at his mule

Found these on a forum, alternative congurations for the P-38.  The top four were early design proposals, the bottom two alternatives to wheeled landing gear.  The push-pull is of most interest to this thread, looks quite like the Fokker D.XXIII.  You could call the middle right a 'reverse Tophe', that is a twin boom aircraft converted to a conventional fuselage!  I could see it asymetrical though, with one of the engines in the nose instead.

Found them here:

Grin Thanks Mossie. "Before the P-38 final-design" is rather "before 1939" but what-if this has been turned into industrial P-38-II in 1939? yes.
Your asymmetric twin-engine version interests me. I will draw it (with Zwilling of it for here), if it is not yet included in my fantasy-P-38 site http://www.kristofmeunier.fr/#Sit (I will check).
Thanks again Thumbs Up

Yeah, the designs is earlier, but assuming they took the same time to develop as the real P-38 it would have entered service in 1939.  Probably later, the push-pull design especially was new & would probably have taken longer to develop.

from http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,26120.195.html (Stargazer's great topic):

A whiffless day is a sad day... so here's my contribution for today: the Fisher Body FB-11P Falcon!

the Fisher Body is indeed from the same General Motors branch that brought the P-75 fighter (designed by a former Curtiss engineer). I used a Northrop F-15 Reporter and an Abrams Explorer as a basis, enlarged the fins, added more windows... It is a 1945 project

here is the Bokhovitinov I-2 (1943 project in my mind), one of the most aerodynamic 4-engined plane ever…

Thanks a lot Stargazer! Let me explain my feelings discovering this creation of yours:
1- Wow! Wub a new twin-fuselage glider 1939-45! Great! Wub Thumbs Up
2- Why this code? (An 2A-7). The An 2 is not a glider nor a monoplane and came after 1945 and I have not heard of an An 2-6... huh
3- I checked Google for "Antonov An-2A" and that gave me no more than An-2, no An-2A huh huh
4- I checked Bill Gunston's encyclopedia "Russian Aircraft" at Antonov and YES Thumbs Up you were meaning two joined Antonov A-7! Grin a Twin-A-7 (Dvukh-A-7 in Russian) Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Thanks for this creation, and thanks for the pleasant name puzzle ("jeu de piste" in French) cheesy
