G'day Robert,

That Eagle derivative looks brilliant.  Almost a 'Macross' sorta feel to it.

I don't know whether it's just the way I'm looking at it, but it seems noticeably smaller than a real world F-15.  Do you think this would have impacted on it's ability to perform the air superiority role and even to the development of the Beagle?

Not sure, I don't have any dimensions for it. It's based on some drawings overscan posted in this thread over at Secret Projects, I'll re-post them here. Incidentally, the company was known as Fairchild-Hiller at the time, but by the time these would have been built, it had changed to Fairchild-Republic.

Robert,

Thanks for posting.  The 3/4 view makes my first impressions regarding its size even stronger which is surprising given that most US proposals for a given platform frequently share similar dimensions.  It almost looks more akin size-wise to the Falcon.

Happy to oblige  cool

Here's another two-seater, USAF s/n 71-0290, early in its life in Air Superiority Blue / Day-Glo Red color scheme, then later modified for the NASA ACTIVE program with LERX and 2-D thrust vectoring nozzles.

Well done!! Thumbs Up You're much better than me at PSP, and I've been playing around with it for awhile! Excellent choice of subjects...I'd like to put in a vote for Republic's TFX contender...

Chris

Republic version is certainly a possibility, maybe even a D-24, too...

...and here is the Republic F-111A "Thunderstriker" in prototype markings.

Mention of Macross reminded me that I had been working on a CAD drawing of the Valkyrie on and off for the past year...
