I have been pondering a twin engine P-51D Mustang, one behind the other and the cockpit moved aft towards the tail. Yes I know the CoG would be way off, but anyone  want to take a stab at this doing a drawing? Would be a way cool reno racer with counter rotating prop, one for each engine and twin exhaust on each side. Have imagined it called "Slipstream" Sort of ala like the French Latecoere 299C2 and C3 twin engine fighter.

They said it couldn't be done. So I didn't do it!

Of course you'll need HS-12Y style motors that can accommodate the shaft from the rear engine.

... and also like the Machi-Castoldi MC72 Schneider Trophy wannabe. That also had twin V12s one behind the other driving two independent props.

Saw the topic title and immediately thought of a PT-6 twin-pack powered Mustang with the turbine exhaust ports located on both sides of the fuselage.

What would that do to the area-rule fuselage?

On the bench: Patchwork World Dutch and other whif armour, in 1/35 and 1/72, 1/700 Dutch trading vessel

In queue: Eye d'no. Maybe push-pull prop Sea Venom, maybe some real world ships (can't get too far from my favorite), maybe ASW V-22

tat2: that was just a shot of Red Baron I found somewhere on the web (the counter-rotating props made the RB-51 a good starting point). Then I just moved the bits around as well as enlarging the fin and radiator bath.

Okay, it's not a Mustang but Jeffrey got me thinking about warbirds with TwinPacs.
