F2A-11 Siamese-Buffalo

Changing the place of my kits yet to build, I have seen a forgotten Matchbox 1/72 Buffalo. I had bought it with the J.29, Goblin, P-47, XP-77, C.714, when I wanted to build couples of ugly ones and their improved scratch versions… but what to do with a single kit? I have opened the box and… yes, there were 2 kits inside! Thanks to my-past-self… Almost complete, only one spinner is missing, but there will be no need I think: the thinned fuselage will be short, almost sharp, like I did with the P-47… ^_^

Though this will come after the on-going works: P.7117 (XP-77Z), Fw 189ABA, Bv 141F-3, Twin-Boom-Ranger…
Question to our US friends: could you confirm that Buffalo-Bill had no twin-brother? (it is famous wild Buffalos were slaughtered in the Far West, Brewster Buffalos were slaughtered in the Pacific, I am afraid for my poor gun-less Siamese-Buffalo...)

As far as I know, Tophe, Buffalo Bill was twinless, although he did quite resemble Col. G.A. Custer of Little Big Horn fame, which was probably one of the reasons that portion of his wild west show was so successful.

I've seen the film "Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman, with Gen. Custer character, the slaughtering scenes, and I am all shivering for my poor little Twin-Buffalo... Even unable to fly (I know Buffalos don't fly but F2As used to) and the soldiers are coming, with their guns...

Fear not Tophe, your Siamese-Buffalo will be safe, for who could ever bring themselves to fire on such a wonderful and unique aircraft? Interesting point about the film "Little Big Man" is that the Custer in that movie looked more like Buffalo Bill to me than Col. Custer. If you want to see a fairly accurate portrayal of the events at Little Big Horn, look for "Son of the Morning Star" from 1984. It's about as close to the facts as possible to recreate on film.

Your words confirm myself as non History fan at all. Seeing "Little-Big-Man" film, "secret Custer-phile" sounds like "secret Hitler-phile"... Seeing "Farenheit 9/11" film, "proud George W.Bush supporter" sounds like "proud nazi"... I prefer closing my eyes, at least trying hardly to do so, focusing on plastic little models and dreams... Away from violence, till my street explodes from a bomb. I would die happy, with a quiet mind: when the World around is so full of lies, and discrepant "pretended truths", what else to do? I trust no one, as far as seriousness is concerned. And what I judge as wiseness of mine is classified as insanity by the leaders and their psychiatrist friends. Exactly like in the USSR, strongly pretending the opposite...

I think you mis-understand me Tophe, perhaps I did not choose my words well. I am no fan of G.A. Custer, but I do like to study the history involved. Custer, in so many ways, reminds me of those people we see everyday who are willing to trample everyone for their own advancement. This I cannont support nor agree with. That period of history, and the fact that a modern army of its time was so roundly defeated by a technologically less advanced foe, is fascinating.

Yes, I misunderstood, sorry. But how could you like studying in books that may be full of lies, washing your brains away to think in the required direction?
Could you explain me why Israel land was given back to the slaughtered Jewish while the USA were not given back to the slaughtered Native Americans (Amerindians)? If you avoid facing this uncomfortable question (forbidden! Evil!), you are following the right direction, while I don’t, I am crazy, all doctors do agree. And when you consider the Palestinian Arabs know that, no matter Little Big Horn battle, the Indians saw a total defeat and disappearance of their people, their property officially robbed forever, they are looking for another way to resist military colonisation, nuclear threat impossible to face. In a democracy, electors are not innocent, even children requiring the deepest comfort from their parents no matter how they get it, and journalists love scandals of the killed innocent. This leads alas to terrorism, very logically, with no need of the Devil.
Buffalo-Indian-way was being awfully slaughtered, BenLaden-way seems being awful resistance or punishment. I prefer closing my eyes. I accept being classified as crazy. I just open my eyes a little, to glue plastic and sand putty…

I'd probably say the difference is money and the quality of the land.  The land in the Middle East that the Jews settled was pretty barren when they got there and whatever they have now, they made.  The land forcefully taken from the Amerindians is/was rather more productive.  A second question, of course, would be at what point in tme you went back to for purposes or distributing the land since it changed hands between tribes more than once.  I don't agree with a lot of what was done but undoing it would be a very major undertaking at this point.

Elmayerle, I think your assesment is completely on the mark. Perhaps the only way Americans could make it right would be for all of us to leave. But since so much time has passed, how would you determine who should get the land? There are no more "pure-blood" native Americans left, and the tribes that first occupied this land have long since died out. Trying to give back parts of America that were taken from the native Americans would be like trying to give back parts of France to those who did the cave paintings many thousands of years ago.

A little background might help you understand me better Tophe. I spent many years following traditional native American beliefs and was engaged to marry a Hunkpapa Lakota. My sympathies are far more with those people than perhaps my post would indicate.

I quite agree with you on the current state of the world Tophe. I far prefer my little world of plastic and glue to what I see in the news every day.

Well, I'd have to be among those leaving.  All my ancestry traces back to the British Isle, the Netherlands, and Germany.  I think I would like to see some appropriate recompense made, but I'm not sure what would be suitable, and just determining that could take years.   Anyway, enough deep thinking; I'd rather relax with our plastic world, I get enough of Real Life at work.

Waiting the end of October to order paint (for my Fw 189F-3) and putty (for my GP-38J), I am cutting plastic for the next model: twin-Buffalo, half improved aesthetically (like my twin-J29, twin C714, twin XP-77)…

Yes, the plan is a sharp thin nose, like for an in line engine, but...
No, there will be no exhaust pipes nor propeller...
