Following the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, the Russians headed south and invaded Austria. Whilst Austria was not a NATO member, it was decided to repulse the invasion and so the Third World War started. Again Britain was unable to produce aircraft at a fast enough rate and so it looked to America. Following the fall of Hanoi in 1967, the Americans had surplus aircraft in production and so some of these were diverted to Britain to re-equip the RAuxAF whose 1950's Javelins and Venoms were not up to the task. The model is a Skyhawk FG.1, being the CO's machine, 500 Sqn RauxAF, normally based at RAF Filton but operating out of Manching Luftwaffe base on forward duties. The kit is a Fujimi A-4E finished out of the box with the addition of SNEB Rocket pods from the spares box. Decals are from Modeldecal Vampire set and the ubiquitous spares box. Below is my RN F-14 which is in progress but not yet finished.
